2004
Graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and started working in Boston at the Copley Marriott hotel as a Multi-Property Systems Manager where I maintained PCs, laptops, printers, network switches, servers, software, and supported users.
I worked at many hotels in the New England region from 2002 to 2008 including being the IT Manager at both Ritz-Carlton hotels and the largest Marriott hotel in Boston at the same time.
2008
I ran the Boston Marathon for the 2nd year in a row, met my future wife, and bought a 300 sq. foot condo on Burbank street in Boston.
2009
I was offerred a promotion with relocation to Marriott Headquarters in Bethesda Maryland
2009 - 2015
I managed several hotel applications for Marriott serving as the main technical point of contact for 2,000 Guestware and ScerIS installations worldwide. I was also the primary admin for Marriott's new global web-hosted hotel Engineering application Transcendent.
In order to automate updates, facilitate deployments, display support metrics, and monitor the remote Windows SQL installations I used VBScript and created an internal web server named Munck1.
2016 to 2025
My Director and I set out to create the first ever consolidated system to accomplish all guest service hotel needs in a single large Salesforce instance and by 2019 we had delivered mobile guest chat, mobile service request, inspections, dispathing, and many other features.
We also replaced the CRM used by the Ritz-Carlton brand and I personally migrated tens of millions of loyalty data and preferences into Marriott's cloud storage solution for close integration with Salesforce.
Talking about our success at the 2016 Salesforce DC World Tour event
Various awards
My application with 200,000 active Salesforce users and many millions community users would go on to become one of the world's largest Salesforce instances.
This created a whole new business pillar for Salesforce in the hospitality sector.
Not only did Marriott go on to use Salesforce for many other purposes but other hotel companies like Hilton began using Salesforce in a very big way after our success.
A few of our own went on to work for Salesforce and one got a Salesforce Director jobs at another hotel company.
Worked with all sorts of great people including on-shore and off-shore contractors.
Went to San Francisco to talk to Parker Harris (SF Co-Founder) and his team about Marriott's challenges and opportunities.
Got married
Built a garage gym
Taught my son the meaning of hard work
Got really good at using Salesforce REST APIs for everything
Bought a house with a yard for my family in Florida
2026
Grew a mustache. Got a dog. Won the soccer thing.
